Annapolis County has ocean frontage, a little less than 80 kilometres (50 miles) on the Bay of Fundy, which is part of the Gulf of Maine, which in turn is part of the North Atlantic. Fishing did and still does define the communities on the Bay Shore.

Nova Scotia styles itself "Canada's Ocean Playground." Annapolis County's working wharves were an experiential tourism experience long before that phrase came into common usage.

Victoria Beach, Annapolis County, is just across the Digby Gut from Digby town, and Digby County. On a clear day here, or anywhere along the Bay Shore, you can see the City of Saint John on the other side of the Bay of Fundy. A ferry ride from Digby to that New Brunswick city takes around two and a half hours, usually.
