Mapannapolis at Museums Canada conference

Mapannapolis presented it’s community mapping project to the Museums Canada Conference in Halifax at the end of March this year.

“…a grassroots and growing member-focused organization… we believe there is a need in our sector that isn’t about the institution per se or international issues but rather about those who work in museums, galleries, science centres and related cultural institutions across Canada.”

Chair of the Mapannapolis Board, Heather Desveaux, attended the Conference. “ Mapannapolis was chosen specifically to present at Museums Canada 2023 alongside an international leader in digital collection significantly raised the recognition of the work done over the past decade to digitize this history to make it both accessible and immortal.”

Desveaux added “The rich history of Annapolis County needs to be on the national stage, and thus part of Canada’s national story, because it belongs there, Mapannapolis received a tremendous boost in this endeavour as a cross-country audience of museum curators were in awe of the depth of work done: the storymaps, the investigations and the imagery. How fitting it is that the cradle of Canada is also a recognized leader in the digital preservation of our national heritage.”
