Every Picture Tells a Story
Annapolis County Councilor for sixteen years (3 as Warden), and two-time Member of the Parliament of Canada in the early 1900s, Samuel William Willet Pickup was a mover and shaker in the County.
Built in 1828 for Samuel Pickup’s father, the house was originally in the classic Colonial style. Given the house by his father, in the 1870s or 80s, two segmented front bays and dormers were added. The central entry porch was extended to a second floor and topped with another dormer. While the look of the original house was lost, it must have been the height of style in Victorian Granville Ferry.
