As colonial capital before the founding of Halifax, as a pivotal player in the struggle for empire between the English and the French, as a bustling Victorian port of trade and commerce, and as a present day community that treasures its past, Annapolis Royal's history is unparalleled in Canada.

Now in private hands and home to a bakery called ARCH & PO (Annapolis Royal Customs House & Post Office), the distinctive red sandstone building is adjacent to the Saturday Farmers' and Traders' Market grounds, and across the street from King's Theatre, in the heart of the Town.

There is a self-guided walking tour of the Town, a design destination for anyone interested in architecture across several hundred years. One example has been continuously occupied since 1708, and is a National Historic Site.
